Position Responsibilities
• Overall duties as a daycare teacher (ECE) at infant/toddler class
• Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, preparing crafts, and providing opportunities to express creativity through the art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
•Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
•Assist to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
•Assist to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
•Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members & supervisors
•Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural difficulties and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
•Prepare rooms for all activities throughout the day
•Submit written observations on children to supervisors
•Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping duties regularly
•Attend all staff meetings.
Knowledge & Experience
• completion of 2-4 yr college program in ECE or bachelor in child development
• Valid BC ECE license
• Experiences in child education/child care would be a plus
• 2 yr Valid First Aid certificate
• Fluent English for writing, reading and understanding
Salary: $15.06/hour with 32 hours working per week including 10 paid holidays per year
